Longtime Goalie Academy client Kris Carlson was tapped as the North American Hockey League Central Division Star of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Carlson, who minds the net for the Austin Bruins, led his club to a road sweep of the Aberdeen Wings last weekend. The 18-year-old Centreville native allowed three goals on 52 shots in those two games.
Step 1: Start in the middle of your net
Step 2: Challenge out to just above the bottom of the circles
Step 3: Retreat back using a couple “C” cuts
Step 4: Hold your feet at the top of the crease
Step 5: Transition using your momentum back to either post. This can be done standing or in a butterfly save selection.
Remember that practice makes perfect! Work on drills like this whenever you have spare time in practice.
