In Loving Memory of Wilbur "Wimp" Hallman February 25, 1934 - June 20, 2001 |
The Goalie Academy and the hockey world lost a great friend on June 20, 2001. Wilbur Franklin "Wimp" Hallman passed away and left a great void for those involved in youth hockey, especially in the Hershey, PA area. Wimp was a long time member of the Hershey Area Minor Hockey Board of Directors, where he served as treasurer for many years. He was also the Hersheypark Arena Rink Manager and former Director of the Goalie Academy. It was Wimp's commitment to making the camp work in the early years that allows us to continue to help goalies today. Wimp's dedication to hockey will not be forgotten. And to ensure Wimp's memory lives on, the Goalie Academy has dedicated an award known as "The Wimpy" to be presented to a Goalie Academy Camper who exhibits the traits that Wimp admired in a minor hockey player. |

| "The Wimpy" will be awarded to one (1) camper each year who attends any of the Goalie Academy camps and who demonstrates a commitment to hockey, the effort and desire to improve, a strong work ethic, excellent sportsmanship and the potential to become a very good goalie with time and support. The winner of "The Wimpy" will have their name engraved on the Wimpy Award, have their name displayed on this web page, receive a certificate indicating their achievement, and also receive tuition payment in full to one (1) future Goalie Academy Enhancement camp. Finalists will be chosen from each Goalie Academy camp and then the one (1), ultimate winner will be chosen from that group of finalists by a vote from the Goalie Academy coaching staff at the end of the summer camp season. |
